Cracks

Cracks is an ongoing photographic series that I have been developing over more than five years. The work focuses on subtle fractures found in urban surfaces — walls, pavements, and architectural structures — investigating material traces produced through time, pressure, environmental forces, and gradual structural transformation. These fine lines, often dismissed as damage or imperfection, are approached as visible records of change embedded within the material itself.

The series isolates these overlooked formations and shifts them from the periphery of perception into the center of observation. What initially appears accidental or insignificant reveals itself as evidence of temporal processes unfolding over time. Each fracture becomes an index of tension, duration, and the continuous negotiation between permanence and transformation.

Rather than documenting decay, the work examines how surfaces register change and preserve the memory of material transformation. The fractures are understood not as endings, but as evidence of continuity: surfaces responding, adapting, and remembering. Imperfection is approached not as failure, but as a visible trace of transformation itself.
